The 2020 Census is just around the corner and it is important to note the importance of this data collection activity and some of the major issues surrounding the Census. The decennial census is one of the few places where systematic and comparable neighborhood level data are provided for every community in the nation. Census data support our democratic system of government, they are used to distribute over $800 billion each year to states and localities, and Census data are used extensively in community planning. In this session, the audience will learn about a couple of tools that can be used to help achieve a more accurate Census count. The audience will also learn about two mapping applications that can be used to gain a better understanding of where hard-to-count Census tracts are located and who lives in those tracts.
